Women workers at Buyuk Tobacco

The tobacco shop complex at 65 Elm St. housed various tobacco companies over the years. In its "hayday", over 400 employees worked at this location. The General Cigar Company owned and operated out of the building until 2015 when DiamondBack Properties purchased and began renovations.

With the history we found, we think the list included:

  • Bayuk Tobacco
  • Meyer & Mendelsohn
  • Culbro Tobacco
  • General Cigar
  • Hipple Bros

This building was also commissioned as a fall out shelter by the Department of Defense in the 50's.
